Founders
Andreas Wittig and Michael Wittig are the founders of attachmentAV. Both are AWS and cloud security experts, and the authors of the bestselling book Amazon Web Services in Action.
A Spin-Off of bucketAV
attachmentAV is a spin-off of bucketAV, the antivirus solution for cloud storage that Andreas and Michael have been building since 2015.
What started as an open source project in 2015 turned into a commercial product on the AWS Marketplace in 2019. Today, bucketAV protects Amazon S3 and Cloudflare R2 buckets for more than 1,000 paying customers and is one of the top-rated antivirus solutions on the AWS Marketplace.
attachmentAV is built on exactly that technology. The scan engine, the malware signature distribution, and the highly available scanning infrastructure behind every attachmentAV product are the same battle-tested components that have been protecting cloud storage in production for years. That foundation - a decade of development and 25+ releases - is why attachmentAV was production-ready from day one, instead of starting from scratch.
Independent and Self-Funded
Andreas and Michael run bucketAV and attachmentAV as an independent, self-funded company. No outside investors, no acquisition, no pressure to pivot - and therefore no risk that the antivirus solution you rely on is discontinued after the next funding round.
Instead, you get a small team that has been maintaining and supporting the same security product for a decade, and that answers your support requests directly.
